Investors often inquire about the right time to enter or leave the market. Research has indicated that no one can predict the movements of the market for the next month or year[1].  Just as with unanticipated events, if portfolio managers could somehow predict the future movement of the market, then prices in the market would already reflect that knowledge, and so it would be nearly impossible to profit from it.

 

Instead, we consider it generally advisable to remain steadfastly adherent to a carefully planned equity allocation in accordance with your unique risk profile.
